Trial begins for Toledo terror trio

Jury selection began this past Monday in trial of the Toledo terror trio, Mohammad Zaki Amawi, Marwan Othman El-Hindi and Wassim I. Mazloum (additional coverage from the Associated Press).

The trio are accused of plotting to kill US military personnel in a plan devised and discussed at the 2004 Muslim American Society/Islamic Circle of North America convention held in Cleveland. As I reported last week, “The Muslim Brotherhood’s Grand Jihad in Toledo”, the Muslim American Society recently showed up in Toledo apparently not content with the havoc and terror their extremism has already brought to Northwest Ohio. Perhaps not coincidentally, we reported last month that the Department of Homeland Security recently added Toledo to its list of terror high risk areas.

Here is the Feb 2007 DOJ press release on the Toledo terror trio’s indictments. Additional trial documents can be found at The Investigative Project’s terrorism cases page (USA v. Amawi et al.).
