Mary Jo Kilroy locks up Ohio 15th female HAMAS vote

HAMAS ladies ♥ Mary Jo Kilroy!

Yesterday we saw Ahmad Al-Akhras, national vice chairman of the HAMAS front organization Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), stepped up to help his pal Mary Jo Kilroy’s congressional campaign after not many questions were asked at the Franklin County Commission concerning Al-Akhras business partner Abukar Arman after I disclosed that he was illegally serving on the Franklin County Criminal Justice Planning Board, which oversees area homeland security.

But apparently the gratitude for Kilroy’s efforts didn’t end with Al-Akhras. In fact, CAIR-Ohio “president” Asma Mobin-Uddin tossed a $250 donation to Kilroy’s congressional campaign last August at the same time as her ameer, Ahmad Al-Akhras. Again, these donations from CAIR officials occurred AFTER federal prosecutors had identified CAIR as an integral part of the HAMAS terrorist support infrastructure last year.

Additionally, HAMAS honey Mobin-Uddin previously gave $250 in 2006 for Kilroy’s first failed congressional run.

Looks like Mary Jo Kilroy has locked up not only the male, but the female HAMAS vote in the Ohio 15th!

Where’s CAIR on Christopher Paul?

That’s the question I ask today in my FrontPage article, “CAIR Mum on Ohio Al-Qaeda Guilty Plea”:

Earlier this month Christopher Paul stood before a federal judge in Columbus, Ohio and pled guilty to receiving training in Al-Qaeda terror camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan, fighting with Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Bosnia, and passing that training on to other Muslims in the US and Europe with the intent to kill Americans at home and abroad as part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors to avoid conviction on even more charges.

Since then, however, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has been curiously silent on Paul’s guilty plea, with no press releases, media interviews or angry editorials on the matter for nearly three weeks. And any mention of Christopher Paul and his Columbus Al-Qaeda co-conspirators has been tellingly scrubbed from CAIR’s website.

This is especially curious considering the media full-court press that some CAIR officials engaged in when he was arrested in April 2007. At that time CAIR had no reservations about speaking publicly on the matter, as evidenced by the public protestations of Paul’s innocence by CAIR national vice-chairman, go-to friend of terrorists, and sometime pugilist Ahmad Al-Akhras, who defended his Al-Qaeda associate to the Associated Press:

Ahmad Al-Akhras, vice chair of the Columbus chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, knows Paul and said the charges are out of character.

“From the things I know, he is a loving husband and he has a wife and parents in town,” Al-Akhras said Thursday. “They are a good family together.”

Al-Akhras said he and others in the Muslim community are guarding against a public backlash.

“People start wondering and questioning, what is happening and why now?” he said. “When something like this pops up, it creates some anxiety among the members of the Muslim community. . . . We hope nothing bad will happen and everything will be clear.”
Two of Christopher Paul’s Ohio Al-Qaeda associates, Iyman Faris and Nuradin Abdi, are already serving prison sentences for their role in the Columbus Al-Qaeda cell (from court documents at least 10 others are known to have been involved, but have not yet been charged). As noted by Andrew Cochran at Counterterrorism Blog, Paul’s admission to his extensive collaboration with international terrorist plots going back to the early 1990s and the statement of facts in the case indicates that he is the earliest known American Al-Qaeda operative.

In each of these cases of the Columbus Al-Qaeda cell, CAIR has initially rushed to publicly defend these men from the charges and to flog their own grievance-mongering agenda. But as the full scope of their involvement in the terrorist network became clear they attempted to distance themselves and their organizations from the terrorist network, while still attempting to promote their agenda and give their terrorist associates as much cover as possible.

For instance, after Iyman Faris had pled guilty to felony terrorism charges, Al-Akhras business partner Mohammad Tarazi (whose wife serves as the corporate secretary for CAIR-OH), was dispatched to speak to a local TV station to float the story that Faris was mentally ill and possessed by demons:

An Islamic religious leader said an Ohio trucker who pleaded guilty to felony terrorism charges had once claimed he was possessed by demons and attempted suicide.

Mouhamed Nabih Tarazi volunteers as an imam to lead prayer services at various sites around Columbus. He performed the marriage ceremony for Iyman Faris, but said Faris did not attend services regularly because he was often on the road.

Tarazi said he never heard Faris talk about politics, but thinks he might have been mentally ill.

“He did have some mental problems. We did not know about these problems when he was married,” Tarazi said.
Here Tarazi is attempting to deal with the guilty plea aftermath by simultaneously distance the mosque (Masjid Omar Ibn El Khattab, which was the hub of the Columbus Al-Qaeda cell) from Faris while explaining away his behavior with bizarre claims of mental illness and demon possession to still give cover for his friend — a claim that magically appeared only after the guilty plea.

Nuradin Abdi’s arrest was more difficult for CAIR-OH to address as Abdi was known to have been an active in Masjid Omar and was one of the leaders of the local Al-Maghrib Institute (aka “Jihad U”) chapter.

So it’s not surprising that Ahmad Al-Akhras rushed to defend Abdi to the local media:

“What we know about him is unlike how he is portrayed,” said Ahmad Al-Akhras, president of the Ohio office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

The group’s leaders questioned the evidence and the timing of the announcement of charges against Abdi, noting that the FBI has dropped charges accusing others of terrorism.

“This may be one of the cases also that may not have enough evidence or there’s no evidence at all,” Al-Akhras said.
CAIR-OH actively aided Abdi’s defense team by parroting their bogus narrative that Abdi had been tortured in prison by US officials and was exhibiting signs of mental illness because of this alleged abuse.

This time it was CAIR-OH president Asma Mobin-Uddin who was dispatched to do the group’s dirty work. She penned an op-ed for the Columbus Dispatch invoking her credentials as a physician to attest to Abdi’s mental state:

As a physician, I am extremely concerned that his behaviors might indicate mental and possibly physical abuse during his detention, and that his mental injuries may be permanent.
Area Marxist moonbat Harvey Wasserman and Columbus State professor and fellow moonbat Bob Fitrakis also parroted this theme of Abdi’s alleged torture:

In court, Abdi looked nothing like a terrorist — or his former self. His family and the larger Somali community here were horrified to see Abdi enter the courtroom smiling vacantly and failing to recognize his own brother. Apparently unconscious of his surroundings, Abdi banged his head repeatedly on a table and grinned at nothing. Many who know Abdi in the central Ohio community say the vague, sensational charges against him are absurdly out of character.

No photos have emerged of abuse in prison. But Abdi’s new attorney, his family and the community who knew him find little else to conclude. Some say he has apparently lost his mind under the conditions of his incarceration.
The problem with Mobin-Uddin’s narrative of Abdi’s torture and mental collapse, however, is that she is a pediatrician, not a psychiatrist, and had a definite conflict of interest in her bogus diagnosis. And unfortunately for CAIR-OH, when actual mental health officials examined Abdi, they found that he was faking symptoms of mental illness in an attempt to avoid the 80 years in prison that he possibly faced. A federal appeals court also rebuffed his lawyers’ attempt to suppress incriminating statements he made at the time of his arrest.

Notwithstanding Abdi’s eventual guilty plea, Asma Mobin-Uddin still features her Columbus Dispatch editorial in defense of Abdi on her personal website. And when a local Muslim columnist, Mahmoud El-Yousseph, conceded Abdi’s guilt and proper punishment and chastised CAIR-OH for refusing to withdraw their support for the terrorist, he was publicly rebuked by Ahmad Al-Akhras and others for deviating from the CAIR line of maintaining Abdi’s innocence at all costs.

The most recent guilty plea by Columbus Al-Qaeda member Christopher Paul, however, provided a particularly difficult conundrum. Not only was Paul an active and well-known member of Masjid Omar, for years he had been the martial arts instructor for the mosque, presumably providing members there with jihadist training. This no doubt prompted Al-Akhras’ full-court media press at the time of Paul’s arrest.

And now that Paul has admitted his guilt and acknowledged that he had conspired to use weapons of mass destruction against US citizens at home and abroad, CAIR’s continued silence is as condemning as the respective guilty pleas by Iyman Faris, Nuradin Abdi and Christopher Paul. Considering that our local terrorist cell is the largest known Al-Qaeda operation in the US since 9/11, and that these convicted terrorists were close associates to CAIR officials (by their own admission), the campaign of silence by CAIR has becoming deafening.

Local Muslim leader defends convicted Columbus Al-Qaeda cell members

There are times when even our local jihadists shock and amaze me. This is one such occasion.

Later today, local Al-Qaeda terror cell member Christopher Paul will plead guilty in federal court to conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction against Americans. He faces life in prison, but it appears that he will receive a sentence of 20 years as part of his plea agreement. Much like his other co-conspirators, Iyman Faris and Nuradin Abdi, he is making this plea of his own free will.

So what is shocking is that one of the leaders of our local Al-Maghrib Institute chapter, Basil Mohamed Gohar, circulated an email earlier today defending these Al-Qaeda terrorist cell members; not only going so far as to protest their innocence in the face of their own guilty pleas, but to ask others to pray for their early release and for their elevation in Paradise!

Al-Maghrib is a traveling Wahhabist roadshow that preaches an extremist and exclusivist version of Islam. The organization’s rabid anti-Semitism, Holocaust denials, and militaristic preaching of jihad even have other Muslims expressing concern about the radicalizing effect of Al-Maghrib’s preaching and programs. Gohar is the former “ameer” of the Columbus chapter, Qabeelat Hayl, and another one of Qabeelat Hayl’s founding fathers was none other than Nuradin Abdi, Christopher Paul’s convicted Al-Qaeda cell co-conspirator. Thus, Al-Maghrib has rightly earned the moniker, “Jihad U”. (See our previous posts on Al-Maghrib’s activity and events in Central Ohio.)

Gohar also heads up a local outfit, “Building Muslim Leaders”. This group just recently held a workshop in Columbus on “The Pursuit of Excellence”, which featured both Gohar as one of the featured speakers.

So it is especially disconcerting that an individual who is devoting so much time and energy into training local Muslim leaders is not only quick to defend our three local Al-Qaeda convicts, who as I already noted have all pled guilty of their own accord. Gohar’s email message is reproduced in its entirety below (thanks to the member of the Muslim community who forwarded it to me, but remains anonymous for fear of retaliation by these extremists).

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Assalaamu ʿalaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuh

In shaaʾ Allaah this e-mail finds you all in the very best of health & ever-increasing imaan!!!

I was checking the weather today, and my heart sank when I read the following news on the front page:

http://10tv.com/live/content/local/stories/2008/06/02/paul_plea.html?sid=102

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Worthington man accused of plotting to help al-Qaida agreed Monday to plead guilty to working with terrorists.

Christopher Paul will plead guilty to a charge of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction, 10TV News reported.

He is expected to make the plea in court on Tuesday.

According to prosecutors, Paul, 44, worked with Iyman Faris and Nuradin Abdi, who plotted to help raise money and provide equipment for al-Qaida.

Both Abdi and Faris pleaded guilty to the charges and are serving time in a federal prison.

Paul, born Paul Kenyatta Laws, changed his name to Abdulmalek Kenyatta in 1989 and to Christopher Paul in 1994. He is said to have obtained passports in several names.

Stay with 10TV News and 10TV.com for continuing coverage.

Just as the case with both Iyman & Nuradin, the idea that they are guilty of any wrongdoing, whether it be by US law or otherwise, is ridiculous, as anyone that knows them and knows even a little of their cases can attest to. Sadly, these brothers will stand a chance of being released much earlier if they plead guilty than if they fight through the courts and try to “prove” their innocence. The way these cases have been prosecuted has been a travesty and has been devoid of any kind of justice or due process, with the verdicts, as is common in most “terrorism”-related cases, having been decided long before these brothers were ever apprehended.

I ask Allaah to make the brothers and their families patient through these trying times and to expedite their release for captivity and to let this be a means of elevating their status in the aakhirah.

Wassalaamu ʿalaykum

If anything has been a travesty with respect to the legal process against Gohar’s associates, it has been the willingness of the self-proclaimed Muslim leaders to openly defend these terrorists at every turn! Let’s not forget that according to court documents filed in Iyman Faris’ case, after the FBI turned him, they watched as Faris communicated directly with Al-Qaeda operations chief Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in real time. And Christopher Paul trained in Al-Qaeda camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan — training he intended to use to kill Americans. These facts are not in dispute.

These individuals, such as Basil Mohamed Gohar, Ahmad Al-Akhras and Asma Mobin-Uddin, and the groups and organizations they represent, including CAIR-Ohio and Al-Maghrib Institute, sully the reputation of the entire Muslim community when they falsely claim to speak in its name and declare the innocence of these convicted and self-confessed terrorists. But as I have stated repeatedly, these individuals have NEVER been elected by people they claim to represent, and one only need look at their most recent published IRS tax filings to discover that officially CAIR-Ohio has no membership! Zero. Zilch. Nada.

The only way to combat Islamic radicalization and to defeat jihadist recruitment in our area is for local Muslims to begin to speak out against such outrages and to publicly oppose those terror apologists who claim to speak in the Muslim community’s name. Christopher Paul’s guilty plea should be a clear indicator that it must take place sooner rather than later.

We’ve got hate mail!

Abdul-Muhaimin Bayan says,

"Waah, waah, waaaaaah! Central Ohioans Against Terrorism is so mean!"

Awwwwww. Abdul-Muhaimin Bayan has got his feelings hurt. He spent some time perusing our website Thursday evening, and didn’t like what he saw. We were saying so many things he took offence to that he penned the following missive in defense of hate sheiks, like Siraj Wahhaj; extremist organizations, like CAIR; and politically-connected Islamist thugs, like Ahmad Al-Akhras.

So Abdul-Muhaimin Bayan says, “boo hoo hoo!”:

And ALLAH will never lead a people astray after HE has guided them until HE makes Clear to them as to what they should avoid. Verily, ALLAH is The Knower of everything. Verily, ALLAH ! To HIM belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, HE gives life and HE causes death. And besides ALLAH you have neither waliy (friend, guardian, protector) nor any naseer (helper). O you who believe, should any one of you turn back from his Religion, then ALLAH will bring a people whom HE Loves and who Love HIM, humble towards Believers, mighty against the disbelievers, striving hard in ALLAH’s Way and not fearing the censure of any censurer. As-Salaamu Alaikum To CAIR, CAIR-Ohio and To All Muslims and True Believers, and To All:

I seek the Guidance, Mercy, Forgiveness, Help and Protection of ALLAH in this matter and in all things. Ameen (May it be so).

Let me begin by saying that I am very happy and very blessed to be a Muslim. I am so thankful that ALLAH guided me to Islaam. I am not a terrorist. Further, I totally reject any and all forms of “terrorism” including the murdering, assaulting, maiming, raping and unjustified injuring (by hand or mouth) of any human beings. I totally reject the concept and the actual practice of torturing any human beings. I do however firmly believe in the Rule of Law and therefore believe in appropriate punishments for crimes and terrorists’ acts, in accordance with the requirements of due process.

Terrorism is terrorism, but State sponsored terrorism initiated by powerful nations against weak and defenseless nations, peoples and individuals is the most abhorrent terrorism of all.

All praise is due to ALLAH for all persons, organizations and groups which genuinely stand for truth and justice and the Rule of Law which does not discriminate between Muslims, Christians, Jews and any other classifications of people. A murderer is a murderer; a thief is thief; a liar is a liar; and all praise belongs to ALLAH Who Alone is the Judge of us all. Ameen.

CAIR and or CAIR-Ohio may already be well aware of the anti-Muslim activities of the so-called “Central Ohioans Against Terrorism”, but I have just recently become aware of this organization’s web site which constitutes a vicious hate and smear campaign against Central Ohio Muslims in particular and against all Muslims in general and also against any non-Muslims who do not express and manifest hatred for Muslims and Islaam..

The web site of the so-called “Central Ohioans Against Terrorism” slanders and targets various present and past leaders of CAIR and or CAIR-Ohio, and all of the masaajid (mosques) and all of Islamic institutions and organizations in Columbus and Central Ohio including the Noor Islamic Cultural Center, ISGC, IFCO and Sunrise Academy, for example. Hilliard, Ohio where Sunrise Academy is located is specifically targeted.

The web site slanders and targets nationally and internationally well-known, beloved and respected Muslim leaders such as Imam Siraj Wahhaj who has been a guest speaker in Columbus, Ohio on many occasions over a period of several years now.

The web site slanders and targets well-known, beloved and respected, former and current CAIR officials, including brother Ahmad Al-Akhras and sister Asma Mobin-Uddin and others.

The web site slanders and targets government officials including Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman and Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and others.

The web site slanders and targets presidential candidate Senator Barack Hussein Obama.

One of the obvious goals of the web site is to insinuate that all Muslims and non-Muslims mentioned at the site are terrorists and or supporters of terrorists. Another goal is to incite fear and panic and irrational thinking and irrational behavior against Islaam and Muslims by anyone who visits the site. The producers of the site allege that Hilliard, Ohio, a Columbus suburb, is a center of support for violent jihad, by using various fabrications.

Jihad in Central Ohio

The publishers of the web site use a mixture of truths and falsehoods as well as pure fabrications, conjecture, speculation, inference, disparaging remarks, character assassination, guilt by association, allusion and innuendo, etc., to connect, --- some specific Muslim leaders, and more so, all Muslims and all non-Muslim leaders and officials who work with or interact in good faith with Muslims, --- to terrorism and terrorists’ plots.

Inshaa’ALLAH, if it pleases ALLAH, CAIR and or CAIR-Ohio has already been responding to, and best knows how to respond to, the web site of the so-called “Central Ohioans Against Terrorism”.

Needless to say, Abdul-Muhaimin Bayan is not the first individual to wail and pout about our little website here, but at least he didn’t praise al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups like the last one.

So here’s a challenge, Abdul: if you don’t like us publishing stories about local terror sheiks, such as Salah Sultan, and note his open association with terrorist leaders (like the picture below where he is sitting at a table with Yousef al-Qaradawi and Khaled Mish’al of HAMAS - both designated as terrorists by the US government);

Or you don’t like us pointing out that local organizations, such as Sunrise Academy, Masjid Abubakar Siddique, CAIR-OH, Islamic Foundation of Central Ohio and Noor Islamic Cultural Center, are bringing in unindicted co-conspirators named as such by the US Department of Justice for terrorist acts against the US and its citizens, such as Siraj Wahhaj pictured below, to speak and fundraise on behalf of their groups;

And you don’t want us mentioning how CAIR officials openly praise terrorist organizations, like the blog post by CAIR-OH board member Abukar Arman below, or defend convicted cop-killers;

Then you’re free to whine all you want. But perhaps this is another Quranic verse you should reflect on:

Do not withhold any testimony by concealing what you had witnessed. Anyone who withholds a testimony is sinful at heart. (2:283)

If you find fault with the truth we speak here, you’re problem isn’t with us; it’s with Allah.

Terror apologist Abukar Arman appointed head of CAIR-Columbus

It is profoundly sad to see CAIR-Ohio descending further into extremism as witnessed by the recent appointment of local Somali terror apologist Abukar Arman to head the local CAIR-Columbus office as indicated by the email announcement from CAIR-OH figurehead Asma Mobin-Uddin back in January (see below). Arman has steadfastly defended the al-Qaeda-backed Somali Islamic Courts Union and is one of its most outspoken apologists in the West (see my article, “Hometown Jihad: The Somali terror apologist next door”). One only need visit his article, “Engaging Somalia via the Road Less Traveled”, from back in January to see how shamelessly he defends as “moderate” the very organization waging a bloody insurgency against the Somali people, and who’s leaders have been designated as terrorists by the US government.

Then again, no one should be surprised at this sudden lurch towards extremism by CAIR-OH. Abukar Arman has been on the state chapter board, and with the very sudden flight of his business partner Ahmad Al-Akhras (CAIR national vice chairman and former CAIR-OH founder and president) to the Middle East, Arman has no doubt been designated by his friend to help keep a tight rein on the group in his absence. Thus, this move is one of sheer pragmatism. While Asma Mobin-Uddin is the titular figurehead of CAIR-OH, the real power behind the local organization has always been and remains Ahmad Al-Akhras and his HAMAS/Muslim Brotherhood masters.

But Arman’s new position will drop the facade of “moderation” that CAIR-OH has tried to foist, with his open enthusiasm for terrorist organizations (see, for instance, his January 2006 blog post “HAMAS Victory is a Victory for Democracy and Peace!”, which has been proven manifestly false in the past two years; also remember that HAMAS has been designated a terrorist organization since 1995); his organizing conferences in our area with known Islamic extremists (e.g. the terror-fest held at the Ohio Statehouse back in October); his forced resignation back in August from the Franklin County Criminal Justice Planning Board, which oversees area Homeland Security; and simultaneously losing his job with the Columbus Public Schools. And I’ve previously written about the time that Abukar Arman, Ahmad Al-Akhras and Asma Mobin-Uddin went to a local combat Marine veteran’s home to provoke a confrontation over the man’s bumper sticker (“CAIR Thugs on Islamophobia Patrol”).

Here is his article praising the terrorist HAMAS organization (click to enlarge):

And then there was the eviction of a scheduled conference featuring Abukar Arman, Ahmad Al-Akhras and Anisa Abd El Fattah at the US Capitol by the US House of Representatives Sergeant-at-Arms back in August due to the speakers’ extremism.

Two other things should be mentioned before turning to the CAIR-OH announcement. The first is that Abukar Arman was appointed to this position; there is no democracy within CAIR. One reason might be is that according to the most recently released IRS Form 990 for the organization, CAIR-OH has no membership; it lists nothing received in terms of membership receipts. It represents no one but itself. When, if ever, did CAIR ever go to the Muslim American community in Ohio for the right to speak in their name? The answer is: never. CAIR has never had an election.

Secondly, as was observed in August by the Columbus Dispatch, Abukar Arman is not a citizen of the US (at least he wasn’t then). This would not otherwise be a problem except that CAIR continuously denies and dismisses their ties to foreign powers and foreign agents. And this move demonstrates clearly that Ahmad Al-Akhras has no difficulty turning to non-US citizens to run the show in order to keep his iron-fisted grip on the CAIR-OH chapter following his flight.

Here is CAIR-OH’s two announcements regarding Abukar Arman’s appointment (my thanks to ***** for forwarding it to me):

Salaam,
As I have received some questions about this, I wanted to repost the following update to the community about leadership updates within CAIR-Ohio for the next term, starting in Jan. 2008.

Br. Abukar Arman has been elected by the state board to be president of the new local Columbus chapter of CAIR-Ohio, and I was re-elected to do another term as president of the state board of CAIR-Ohio (which oversees the Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland chapters).

I posted the following email to the professional’s list but it came back to me so I’m not sure people have seen it.
Salaam,
Asma Mobin-Uddin
CAIR-Ohio

[the initial announcement]
Jan. 2008
Salaam,
I wanted to let everyone know of our brother Abukar Arman’s new position within CAIR-Ohio. Br. Abukar is a member CAIR-Ohio’s state board. Until this year, our state board also oversaw the function of the Columbus office, our largest office.

This year due to continued growth, we have separated the Columbus board into its own local entity, overseen by the CAIR-Ohio state board, just as Cincinnati and Cleveland have local boards to manage the affairs in their cities. Now all three offices have local boards, and all three are still overseen by the state board. Br. Abukar was elected to be the first president of the new Columbus office board. We also welcome Sr. Roofi Ahmed, Sr. Hend Al-Kharashi, Br. Don Furbee, and Br. Sunni Islam to the local Columbus board of CAIR-Ohio. We are blessed to have this strong and talented team in the new Columbus chapter of CAIR-Ohio.

Salaam,
Asma Mobin-Uddin
(state board president of CAIR-Ohio)
From Mobin-Uddin’s two emails above it appears that Abukar Arman’s new position has not been without difficulty and turmoil even within their own ranks. Something outside observers should take note of.

CAIR-OH reps admit to harrassing man at home

I noted in the previous entry a comment made in today’s Columbus Dispatch by CAIR-OH president Asma Mobin-Uddin, who points to an incident where she and Abukar Arman confronted a man at his home for a bumper sticker he sported on his car. But this incident is so illuminating into the fascist mindset of CAIR and its officials that it merits its own entry. Here’s what Mobin-Uddin told the Dispatch:

“Mr. Arman is a man of the greatest integrity, kindness and responsibility,” Mobin-Uddin said. She recalled a visit with Arman a few years ago to the home of an ex-Marine who displayed an anti-Muslim bumper sticker.

“We stood and talked with the man on his doorstep for an hour and a half. Mr. Arman never raised his voice. He told the man, ‘You know, sir, I have four children. I’ve lived in this country for decades. If I knew someone who was going to put a bomb somewhere, I would be the first one to jump on them.’”
But here is how Abukar Arman himself described this encounter:

Several months ago, a non-Muslim fellow in the inter-faith community brought to the attention of CAIR-Ohio a picture of his neighbor’s truck with a bumper sticker that read “Jesus loves you, and Allah wants you dead”.

Some of us thought that the appropriate thing to do was to get media involved and use this truck owner as a poster-child of the prevalent assertive ignorance that is widening the post 9/11 political divide between Muslims and non-Muslims. Others, on the other hand, saw this as an opportunity for human contact, discourse, and to build bridges of understanding.

The latter opinion prevailed.

Therefore, I had the privilege of being one of three Muslims (2 male and a female with Islamic veil) who paid a neighborly visit to the truck owner.

What ensued was an interesting discourse that I found to be very educational (its final outcome notwithstanding).

The truck owner was a former Marine officer who served in Somalia and Iraq. Initially, as he opened the door, he was visibly apprehensive (and rightfully so).

We greeted him and introduced ourselves. We reassured him that we were only interested to get to know him, address any questions or perhaps grievance that he may have, and to give him a chance to meet and dialogue with ordinary Muslims.

Long story short: in a conversation that took place right outside his door and lasted for over an hour, the former Marine talked about how he was very suspicious of Muslims and how, both in Somalia and in Iraq, he and other Americans who “came to help these two countries had their hands bitten. . .” He talked about how he did not believe there were any moderate Muslims and how organizations such as CAIR were deliberately silent about condemning terrorism. He also talked about being alarmed by the growing Muslim population in Central Ohio and how they may be hiding a terrorist who has in his possession a “briefcase nuke”. He said, “I don’t want to see a giant mushroom in Columbus” [I will come back to this point].

Lastly, he talked about his career in the private sector . . . how he worked as a “corporate anti-terrorism expert” and a “consultant to a numerous multinational corporations”. . .
First, note that this man was reported to CAIR-OH by one of his neighbors in the “interfaith community”. Abukar Arman admits that they originally intended to make him “a poster-child of the prevalent assertive ignorance that is widening the post 9/11 political divide between Muslims and non-Muslims”, but instead decided on just haranguing him at his home. Of course, we only have one version of the events that evening, so it would be interesting to hear the side of the man they accosted to see if the conversation really went as Arman says it did.

Could you imagine the outrage (rightfully so) if I had done that to someone with a pro-HAMAS bumper sticker or come to Abukar Arman’s home to confront him on his extremist views? Can you imagine the CAIR press releases and restraining orders that would have immediately followed? But in their view, this is evidence of their peace and moderation.

CAIR-OH President’s “links to terror”

Following the recent terrorist attacks by Muslim doctors in London and Glasgow, CAIR sent out their own doctor, CAIR-Ohio President Asma Mobin-Uddin, a pediatrician, to explain how Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with Islam. As noted in a blog item at The American Thinker last week, “The curious links of a CAIR doctor who doesn’t support terror”, Mobin-Uddin had an editorial published in the NY Post attempting to distance the doctors involved in the terrorist plot overseas from the Muslim community. So far, so good.

But when you visit Mobin-Uddin’s personal website, at the bottom of her Resources page she features a link to Youssef Al-Qaradawi’s Islamonline.net website. Qaradawi, who owns the website, was listed by the US government as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in 1999. Islamonline has published a number of fatwas endorsing terrorist attacks against US military personnel and civilian contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan, and HAMAS suicide bombers in Israel.

Also featured on her website is a link to Islamicity, a virulently anti-Jewish website. Mobin-Uddin’s profile at CAIRwatch describes some of the material found at these two sites:

Islamicity is an anti-Semitic portal, whose web library contains a piece entitled ‘Corruption of the Torah,’ which states, “The ‘people of the Book’ includes Jews... Even though Allah has told us of the hatred they hide in their hearts, He has not command us to hate and kill every single Jew we meet simply because he is a Jew. We are better than that. We serve a higher purpose. For this reason, I am going to provide a very devastating argument against them in order to assist them in seeing the corruption of their forefathers. . .” (Islamicity, Library of Selected Islamic Literature, October 2, 2000 - Present) Islam Online is a site that features live dialogues with Hamas leaders (Islam Online, Live Dialogue with Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, ‘Hamas and the Future of Palestine,’ May 7, 2003) and a ‘Fatwa Bank’ (religious ruling) section stating, “Hence, we are allowed to kill every Israeli until they stop this mass killing and paganism. It is only then that we can stop our attacks on the Israeli civilians but our Jihad against the military will never stop till they leave our land and give us back our holy site, Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa [Jerusalem].” (Islam Online, Jihad: Rulings & Regulations, ‘Attacking Civilians in Martyr Operations,’ October 26, 2003)
In addition, the Council on Islamic Education is a Saudi Wahhabist front group that has pressured public school textbook manufacturers into promoting Islamic practices and outright historical revisionsism, such as claiming that Muslims, not Christopher Columbus, discovered the New World. CIE Director Shabbir Mansuri said after 9/11 that it was his intention to wage a “bloodless revolution” to bring Islam into America’s classrooms. The Middle East Quarterly has more on CIE’s curious role as reviewer of public school textbooks.

If it is the case that Islam has nothing to do with Islamic extremism and individuals like Mobin-Uddin supposedly deplore terror, why does she promote on her own website terrorist organizations and individuals in addition to extremists? In the event that those links quickly disappear from her site, here are two screen captures, with the second showing the links to Islamonline, Islamicity, and CIE.
